CMA Festival 2011! Nashville, TN
Monday, September 26th, 2011A little taste of the CMA Festival
Monday, August 22nd, 2011Make your own chalk paint!
Monday, July 25th, 2011Boredom has finally set in at our casa and school doesn’t even start for another month! Even though its well over a hundred degrees here we decided to make some chalk paint. The kids were super excited and then painted for about 10 minutes before they were beet red sweaty messes…I’ll have to file this one away for a 20 degree cooler day but they really enjoyed it.
Here’s what you need:
Muffin tin (or if you want something sealable, baby food jars would work great!)
Cornstarch (about 2 tablespoons for each color)
Food Coloring (add less for pastels more for vibrant colors)
Water
Put your cornstarch in your muffin tins, add your food coloring and a wee bit of water to make a paste/slurry. Make sure everything is dissolved. Then take your tin, paint brushes and cup of water outside to add more water. Have fun!
That’s it. Talk about cheap and easy…sorry Crayola.

{Hutto Photographer} Gaylord Opryland Hotel
Sunday, July 10th, 2011After CMAFest this year I really wanted to drive by the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center I have to say it was the most AMAZING, GIGANTIC, STUNNING hotel I’ve ever been in. I was kind of bummed I only had a chance to run in for a few minutes. There was so much I wanted to see and so much I wanted to take photos of but if we’re being honest I felt a little creepy/stalkerish walking around snapping photos. lol I suppose that’s normal though when you are in the presence of something so grandly awesome. I really want to go back and actually stay there…maybe next time we head on over to Nashville;)

Friday, July 8th, 2011School’s out for the summer!
Thursday, June 2nd, 2011Today I sent my babies off for the last day of 4th grade and Kindergarten. It is so bittersweet! Yesterday they had their awards ceremonies and i was just BEAMING with pride! I have such amazingly kind and smart and awesome kids! Tae and Bash will be saying goodbye to Hutto Elementary it’s been a great school and Tae has gone since Kindergarten. Next year they both will be starting at a new school, Gateway Charter in Georgetown and I couldn’t be more excited for them to have this opportunity.
Here is a snap taken about an hour ago, they have changed so much this school year!

Also while we are on the subject of summer…if you live in Central Texas you know it is already crazy hot…or at least crazy hot for this NY girl! For that reason I will not be accepting any outdoor sessions in July or August. I am though still accepting a limited number studio custom session and newborn sessions of course:)
{Hutto Photographer} Glow Chalk
Sunday, May 29th, 2011yes, glow chalk. lol I had mentioned yesterday on Facebook that we were going to be making Crayola Glow Chalk that Aubrey got for her birthday last week when it got dark. I got lots of private messages asking me how it was and what I thought, so I decided it’d be quicker to do a blog post;)
First off, the kids did enjoy it so I guess in the long run that’s all that matters, right?? The green did glow pretty well, the blue…not so much. We only made those 2 colors last night.
We followed the directions exactly and the mixture did not make enough for 2 full pieces of chalk like it claimed (per color), also, it did not really set even after a half hour (says it sets in 25 minutes on the package). When we unmolded the small pieces of chalk, they broke, with the exception on the blue earth and when the kids attempted to draw the chalk crumbled so they ended up just using their fingers to smash the crumbles into a drawing. Lastly the package claims it glows for 4 hours but it’s pretty much gone after an hour and a half (from the time we mixed the chalk not the time we started using the chalk). I’m not impressed in the least and would not buy it. Hope this review has helped those who were wondering;)
Video at the bottom, excuse my weird kids..I have no idea what they are talking about half the time. lol

{Hutto Photographer} Williamson County Candle Company
Tuesday, May 24th, 2011I am in LOVE with these candles!!! Each candle is hand made to the highest standards and detail using only premium soy wax and the finest oils available. They are so yummy! My fave is the Lemon Pound cake! I had a great time working with Melissa, the owner, bringing her vision of what she wanted in the photographs to fruition. These are the results! Go and check out http://wccctx.com/ and grab yourself a yummy candle, you will be hooked!
